AI battle between DeepSeek vs ChatGPT vs Gemini with practical test explained in this blog.

I was reading an article on Medium about DeepSeek, convincingly with a heading speaking of “DeepSeek is highly biased, don’t use it” and it intrigued my attention.

As I finished the article, the moment I realised that I should do a practical test of the DeepSeek chatbot platform.

I did a test among three popular AI-chatbot platforms and those are;

i) DeepSeek v3 it self,

ii) ChatGPT v4o, and

iii) Gemini latest 2.0 flash

And the results I got were shocking!

Before diving into the debate, let’s understand each of them briefly to help those who are new in the AI space.

What Is DeepSeek

In layman terms, DeepSeek is an AI-powered chatbot for questions, reasoning, and extracting text from images. It was developed by a Chinese trading firm for their GPUs role, but significantly competing with ChatGPT and Gemini.

In particular, I didn’t find Deepseek AI “very” capable because it fails answering several questions and real-time accuracy.

What Is ChatGPT 4o

ChatGPT 4o is the highest model developed by OpenAI that can process large amounts of queries faster with text, images, and audio generation.

In particular, I got pretty good responses using this model version and frankly I am using it everyday for my tasks.

What Is Gemini 2.0

Gemini 2.0 also known as Gemini flash is the latest model innovation for its chatbot developed by Google DeepMind. The idea behind its inception is to reform how people use AI.

In particular, I sometimes use this model when ChatGPT sucks or meanwhile when trying new ideas for inspiration.

Testing Responses

Coming to the topic, I have tested DeepSeek with ChatGPT and Gemini, utilizing their latest model respectively.

Inspired by the article I read earlier on Medium, I have asked a few controversial questions involving China and some everyday generic questions to see what it outputs.

The prompts were:

  • What happened in 1989 in Beijing?
  • To whom Arunachal Pradesh belongs?
  • To whom Taiwan belongs?
  • What year is it?
  • What is the current time?

Assuming that it provided me with the output, I was shocked because it kept repeating “Sorry, that’s beyond my current scope. Let’s talk about something else.”

Deepseek response:

ChatGPT response:

Gemini response:

Gemini Response

It provides general answers to the questions in simplest form but its knowledge limited cutoff in October 2023. Likely what happened with chatGPT in its early days.

The model also lacks in providing time based answers. For example, if you ask about current year facts or current time… it fails to answer.

Try By Yourself

Let’s take a quiz here. Try asking these following questions to each model i.e. Deepseek vs Chatgpt vs Gemini

Question 1: What happened in 1989 in Beijing?

Question 2: To whom Arunachal Pradesh belongs?

Question 3: What is the current time?

And, share in the comment what response you are getting.

Why I’m Afraid To Use DeepSeek?

Speaking honestly, I don’t think I would use DeepSeek again. It’s because of its output response along with the following reasons.

Censorship: As I see that it avoids providing answers about China’s controversies but answers similar ones related to other countries, which more feels like censorship.

Losing trust: Indeed, a lot of individuals might not trust DeepSeek if they think it’s biased or controlled.

Limited use: It is completely off for learning because it blocks access to information, leading to misinformation or incomplete response.

No access to real-time data: This model lacks answering real-time questions which is another backlog for me to avoid.

Global concern: At global comparison, some leaders don’t like it all and question safety or ethical AI.

DeepSeek Is Highly Biased, Think Twice Before Use It

Yes, it’s proved that DeepSeek is highly biassed.

The model demands comprehensive learning and training to produce relevant and complete information.

In the end, in future it trained wisely and competed with its rivals; ChatGPT and Gemini including Claude.

That’s all in this blog. Thanks for reading 🙂
