The Best Of Gaming At CES 2025

While the tech industry is the main concentrate of the year’s biggest tech show, CES also features a valuable amount of gaming content. There was a lot to be infatuated about gaming at CES 2025, from the main enchantment like Nvidia’s new RTX 5000-series GPUs to the imaginary products like Incidental manufacturers’ mock-ups of the Nintendo Switch 2. These are some of the materials that will stimulate gamers in the future. We will be presenting the show this year to see the aggregate that had to do with gaming.

Nvidia RTX 5000-series GPUs

Nvidia, one of the main attractions at CES 2025, presented the GeForce RTX 5000 series, the next generation of GPUs that will power PC gaming, at the beginning of their keynote. For the time being, the RTX 5090, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti, and RTX 5070 are offered in the new desktop video card line. Along with the cards come DLSS 4.0 and improved multi-frame generation to boost frame rates significantly without sacrificing visual quality and to make room for better ray tracing techniques. Of course, we expect performance gains across the board with the improved specs (including GDDR7 memory).

In line with expectations, Nvidia also unveiled the mobile versions of the RTX 5000 series GPUs, which will be available in gaming laptops beginning in the first quarter of 2025. In particular, we observed the Razer Blade 16 running the RTX 5090. Therefore, it won’t be long before the latest generation of gaming laptops arrive in stores.

Black State: A New Game Showcasing Nvidia’s Graphics Tech

At Gamescom 2024, we had the opportunity to see the upcoming third-person shooter Black State, but during Nvidia Editor’s Day, we got hands-on with a new alpha build of the game. It served to demonstrate the capabilities of the upcoming RTX 5090, as well as the advantages of frame generation, DLSS, and a complete suite of ray tracing all operating at once. According to in-game performance metrics, Black State, which is based on Unreal Engine 5, was able to run at times of up to 200 frames per second at 4K and even 300 frames per second at times.

One of Black State’s drawbacks is its “portal” system, which allows you to open and close specific doors to access entirely different worlds without any loading times. AMD RX 9070 Video Card Benchmarked

AMD also unveiled a new range of graphics cards, so Nvidia isn’t getting away with it when it comes to new GPUs. The RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT will compete with Nvidia’s mid-to-high-level GPUs, but AMD is taking control of high-end CPUs with the recently released Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D. Ironically, at CES 2025, we had the opportunity to test the RX 9070 out on Call of Duty-playing computers. Operation Black Ops 6. Project Ava: Razer’s AI Game Coach

Although Razer always has some amazing technology in prototype form to present at CES, it has recently shown off more useful ideas that are aimed at becoming commercially available. Project Ava, an in-game AI assistant that evaluates your performance and coaches you, offering guidance and recommended actions, was the most intriguing thing Razer demonstrated at CES 2025. It is meant to be similar to having an esports coach lead you through a competitive game, and we witnessed its use in real-time with a MOBA. Razer responded that Project Ava will operate within the parameters of each game’s terms of service and won’t give players information about probability or other elements that aren’t immediately obvious to them when we question them about the ethical ramifications. Additionally, it offers post-match analysis that breaks down your performance, highlighting your strengths and weaknesses as well as suggestions for improvement.

Additionally, it will function in single-player games, as demonstrated by Black Myth: Wukong’s battle with the Yin Tiger. The player was informed by Project Ava about visual cues, attack windows, and phase changes during the boss fight, as well as the boss’s moveset prior to the fight. Like many AI applications, Project Ava is a resource hog, but it doesn’t seem to be for your local computer. Steam Deck Competitors Galore

Almost all companies that have produced gaming laptops have ventured into handheld gaming PCs, such as the Steam Deck, with differing degrees of success. Although the Asus ROG Ally has been the leading competitor of the Steam Deck, other companies like Lenovo and MSI have dabbled in the market and at CES 2025 we saw updated versions of their handhelds.

The slightly smaller Lenovo Legion Go S is making more of an impression, even though the company’s flagship handheld device is the updated Lenovo Legion Go. This is due to the fact that a model of the Legion Go S that runs SteamOS instead of the common Windows 11 that other handhelds run is available. This is significant because it’s the first time we’ve seen SteamOS running on a handheld device that isn’t Valve. Some people prefer SteamOS to Windows because it’s stable, easy to use, and designed to run games properly, though you would be mainly dependent on your Steam library of games. After obtaining the Legion Go S, we were pleased with both its cost and performance. A number of SKUs will be released this year, beginning with one that will use the Z1 Extreme processor, which will be available soon, and another that will use the upgraded Z2 processor sometime in May.

Nintendo Switch 2 Mock-Ups

Keeping up with the handheld gaming trend are the unofficial prototypes of the Nintendo Switch 2 successor, which we’ll just refer to as Switch 2 for simplicity’s sake. We were given the opportunity to examine the physical shells of what is likely the Switch 2 that accessory manufacturer Genki had on display at CES 2025. With a few minor adjustments, it looks to be quite similar to the original Switch, but its size is one of the biggest differences. The Switch 2 looks to be 10 points 5 inches wide, 4 points 5 inches tall, . 5 inches thick, and have an 8-inch screen, according to the unofficial mockup. Switch’s current OLED model has a 7″ screen, measures 9.5″ wide, 4″ tall, and is .5″ thick. Hyperkin’s PS5-Style Xbox/PC Controller

Ever wished you could use an Xbox with a PlayStation DualSense? Okay, maybe not, but Hyperkin’s upcoming controller, The Competitor, for Xbox and PC, allows you to get very close. Its two-tone colour scheme, symmetrical stick placement, similar bumper and triggers, and well-known ergonomics are all strong references to DualSense’s design philosophy. In addition, the competitor has two programmable back buttons, Hall Effect sticks, and triggers for increased durability and dependability.

At CES 2025, we had the opportunity to test out The Competitor, and we were pleased with both its overall performance and feel. The back buttons were positioned perfectly, and the Hall Effect sticks were precise and fluid. It feels a lot like a DualSense, but it’s much lighter because it’s a wired controller without the DualSense’s cutting-edge features (haptics, motion controls, touchpad). According to Hyperkin, its target market is PC gamers (and those who might have switched to PC for Game Pass) who like the PS5-style gamepad but want something with more native Windows compatibility (through Xinput).

Corsair’s Origin Arachnid Gaming PC

Origin PC is well-known for its high-end pre-built gaming PCs, which are frequently delivered in special crates. We were able to view the Arachnid, the company’s most recent ostentatious build, now that it is a part of Corsair. It is a massive, open-air, fully aluminium case with liquid cooling pumps and reservoirs that resemble spiders, hence the name. Because it’s meant to be a high-end computer, it will be equipped with the newest Intel/AMD CPUs and Nvidia RTX video cards, depending on your setup. It will be accessible at some point in Q1 2025.

Project Arielle: Razer’s Chair with Built-In Hot-Cold Fans

Project Arielle, a mesh gaming chair with integrated bladeless fans that can blast warm or cool air, was another idea that Razer came up with. Gaming at CES 2025, testing out this new chair was a highlight, even though Razer’s suite of more useful products includes items like the universal handheld PC dock and the new Blade laptop with an RTX 5090. We’re not sure how useful Project Arielle will be in the long run or how useful it will be as a regular office or gaming chair, but it’s definitely a novel idea to have fans built into the chair.
