Joe Biden announced on monday that the US has launched a drone strike in Afghanistan to kill Ayman al Zawahiri, the top al-Qaida leader.
Al-Zawahiri
was the deputy and successor of Osama Bin Laden and the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks.
Killing of Al-Zawahiri is considered as a major blow to the worldwide terrorist network.

Al-Zawahiri was spotted in a safehouse in downtown kabul, the capital of Afghanistan.
The strike was carried out at 9:48pm ET on 30th july by an unmanned aerial vehicle.
Since August 2021, when US diplomats and troops left Afghanistan, the drone strike is the first US-led attack on Afghanistan.
