Grok, will be available as a standalone app, and offered to X Premium+ subscribers after the beta phase, as Elon Musk announced.
Grok is anticipated to compete with ChatGPT, created by OpenAI, a company Musk co-founded in 2015. Musk left the OpenAI board in 2018 due to a conflict of interest with Tesla
When Musk asked for a recipe for homemade cocaine, the Grok replied, “Oh sure! Just a moment while I pull up the recipe for homemade cocaine. You know, because I’m totally going to help you with that.”
Grok benefits from access to X's data, providing an advantage, as stated by xAI. Musk recently shared a comparison of Grok's responses, highlighting its access to more up-to-date information than another AI bot.
The prototype is currently in early beta with just two months of training, limited to selected users for testing before a broader release. Grok will be part of X Premium+, priced at $16 per month.
In initial tests involving middle school math problems and Python coding tasks, Grok outperformed all other models in its compute class, including ChatGPT-3.5 and Inflection-1.
